KNOW MORE ABOUT; KISII NATIONAL POLYTECHINIC -: FASHION DESIGN DEPARTMENT: Kisii National Polytechnic Fashion design department is an academic unit whose purpose is to support the college programmes

The department courses provide students with a solid understanding and appreciation of the materials and forces of nature. The artisan, craft (certificate) and diploma programmes are structured around the study of fashion design, pattern construction, cloth construction, and industrial organization management studies among others.

The department of fashion design was started in 1997 as clothing and textile technology. TSC posted the first teacher for this course in July 1997 BOG employed 1teacher and in October the same year another teacher was posted. The course begun at Craft level and the first candidates sat for KNEC exams Craft ii in the year 2000.

Having satisfactorily implemented the TEP certificate course, Diploma in Clothing and Textile Technology was started in January 2003. And the first candidates sat for exams in December 2003

The department has aligned its training programmes with Technical and Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) and the Vision 2030.

The department has qualified and experienced training team.

With the introduction of TVET module program the clothing and textile certificate was changed to fashion design and garment making while diploma was change to fashion design and clothing technology..

The department has grown since then to a population of over 300 students, 15 trainers and 1 technician. 

Our courses are skill oriented market driven and very competitive. These courses are offered at artisan, craft, and certificate and diploma levels. We also offer short basic skills courses eg dress making, fabric printing, batik, soft furnishing, and embroidary
