1.0. PREAMBLE.

Kisii National Polytechnic Library is an academic unit whose purpose is to support the college programmes / curriculums with a wide range of information materials both in print and online.

Our goal is to provide quality library services through a steady collection development policy to match up with the growing needs of the National polytechnic 

This policy and guidelines herein have been developed to regulate the implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) in the operations of the library as an Academic Resource Center.

2.0. MEMBERSHIP

The following persons are eligible for membership:

2.1.1 Duly registered KNP students.

2.1.2 Current KNP staff

2.1.3 Duly registered members of the public.

2.2.0 REQUIREMENTS

2.2.1. College ID

2.2.2. Letter of confirmation from the departments- staff. ( Teachers on teaching practice )

2.2.3. Library card and National ID Members of the Public. 

3.0. OPERATIONAL HOURS

3.1 Monday – Thursday – 8.00am-9.00pm

3.2. Fridays – 8.00am – 4.00pm

3.3 Saturdays – 9.00am – 1.00pm

3.4 Normal school holidays – 9.00am – 4.00pm

3.5 The library shall remain closed on Sundays and public Holidays.

4.0 CONDUCT IN THE LIBRARY

4.1 Silence shall be observed at all times in the library.

4.2 All mobile phones shall be switched off upon entry OR to be on silent mode.

4.3 There shall be no reservation of library space (seats or table)

4.4 Personal effects shall be deposited at the pigions/ clock area   provided and readers to observe security rules.

4.5 Only files and note books shall be authorized for use in the library.

4.6 Food drinks and liquids are prohibited in the library.

4.7 The library shall not be held responsible for any loses misplacement or damage of personal belongings.

4.8 Charging of Cell-phones is strictly prohibited in the library.

4.9 The librarian reserves the right to withdraw library privileges to any members who disregard these rules.
